These waterproof woollen mittens feature the classic Dale of Norway pattern. Made from 100% durable Norwegian wool, lined with polyester.
The pattern comes from the famous Norwegian Sotra jumper. The original Sotra jumper was part of the Dale of Norway collection in the early 1990s. The jumper comes from the island of Sotra, which lies west of Bergen and is exposed to the harsh weather of the North Sea. A variation of the eight-petalled rose pattern was created on this island. The roses are separated by diagonal lines on a contrasting background. It is thought that the eight-petalled rose was brought to the island by traders and sailors from the Hardanger region around 1850.
The mittens are named after Bjorøy, a small island in the same archipelago as Sotra.
