History:
The traditional eight-petal rose on the shoulders is inspired by our official Norwegian team sweater for the 1976 Winter Olympics in Innsbruck.
The sweater is named after Bjørnøya (Bear Island), an isolated Norwegian island in the Barents Sea halfway between the North Pole and the Norwegian mainland. Its only inhabitants (apart from a large bird colony, foxes, seals and the occasional polar bear) are the staff of the island's metrological station.
