Pattern details:
The World Championship Knit Sweater is full of exciting details drawn from both ancient and modern history. The classic eight-petalled rose is centred on the front of the sweater. To the left (from innermost to outermost) you'll find a ship symbolising Trondheim as a maritime city, a stylised section of a stained-glass window from Nidaros Cathedral and (on sweaters in the largest sizes) a stylised version of a boat with oars seen from above. On the right is a stylised version of Trondheim's municipal coat of arms, followed by the stained glass and boat with oars from the left. The 2025 World Championships in Trondheim focus on diversity and inclusion, and the World Championships logo was inspired by thousands of children's drawings submitted, depicting people holding hands. The motifs on the back of the jumper include a boy and a girl holding hands, a boy and a boy, and a girl and a girl. There are also stylised versions of stained glass from Nidaros Cathedral and a boat with oars. On the sleeves you'll also find a valknut, a symbol used in ancient times to protect against evil forces.
